Who we are

Kirra is a small, dedicated, and experienced team with a combined experience of more than 50 years working in and with businesses in accounting and bookkeeping.

Led by Kirrily

The Kirra team is led by Kirrily Burton, a Fellow of CPA Australia and who graduated from Adelaide University with a Commerce degree in 1992. She worked as a food and beverage attendant and function coordinator at the Norwood Football Club and Function Centre and the Aldgate Pump Hotel. This provided a solid platform for understanding the hospitality industry at the grassroots level, which allowed her to flourish as the Group Accountant at Hotel and Club Services (HCS). This led to a strong advisory role with Graham Hobbs and Ian Tregoning in an external CFO role for HCS and Living Choice Australia (LCA), which continues to this day. 

The three years she spent in Public Practice accounting at Hood Sweeney rounded her expertise, providing knowledge in Income Tax, Fringe Benefits Tax and GST.

Starting the company

Kirrily started Kirra in October of 2006, with her son Jay on her hip, looking for life balance and a flexible role. She approached Graham Hobbs with the idea of HCS outsourcing their accounts payable, payroll and bookkeeping to her. She was keen to start a business of her own and select, train, and mould other like-minded, hardworking, and flexible people to work with her and provide a personalised service they would all be proud of. An initial team of four grew to a group of six over the next ten years.

Staff

The other two current members of the Kirra team are Annie Morrell and Pauline Wheatley.  Annie and Kirrily met when they worked together in 1997 and Annie joined Kirra as a contractor in 2007 and has loved it so much, she hasn’t left!  Annie can relate to all clients and staff exceptionally well and has more than 25 years of bookkeeping experience in many businesses and industries. Kirrily is confident leaving her clients in Annie’s skilful and capable hands and trusts Annie to come to her when she needs some additional input. She is Kirrily’s right hand, and everyone loves her.

Pauline joined the Kirra team in September 2020, and she has slipped in like she has been with us from the start. Pauline brings more than fifteen years of bookkeeping expertise and is friendly, thorough, experienced, knowledgeable, and flexible.  Annie and Pauline are the dream team in taking the hard work out of our clients’ bookkeeping. 

The varied experience that Annie, Pauline and Kirrily have, makes for a well-rounded, professional, approachable, and trustworthy team who are always looking to find ways to improve, streamline and minimise the cost to clients, whilst ensuring that the service they provide is of the highest quality. We love what we do and how we do it, and we are keen to secure additional high-quality bookkeeping clients that will keep us busy for at least another 10-15 years.
